Session Format
Our weekly sessions start with a slow, learning session at 7:00 pm and transition into our regular session at 7:30 pm. The sessions usually run until about 10:00 pm. Come to O'Leary's Pub at 46 Princess St. in uptown Saint John and go straight through to the back room. Bring an acoustic instrument and join in, or just sit and enjoy. All levels of musical experience are welcome.
We usually spend the first half hour or so plugging away at newly-learned tunes, then the next hour playing and singing more well-known tunes and songs. We try to keep it straight-up Irish Traditional until about the second hour, when we play any "Celtic-inspired" tunes or songs that come to mind.
Being focused in our sessions helps us grow musically and gives newer members a chance to learn the tunes and become confident playing them. While we often play familiar music each week, we also like to bring new tunes to the table. We'll try to post these new tunes before we introduce them so you can have the music. And please feel free to bring forward new tunes or songs to our music committee.
