Another year, another great Christmas party!

Congratulations to Bryce Neill and Eva Steele for winning the Comhaltas Achievement Award, for their years of work with Comhaltas!  Presentation of these awards were made by the Irish Ambassador to Canada, Dr. Ray Bassett, at the Comhaltas Eastern Region Annual General Meeting in Kingston, on October 15th.
We had a special evening here in Saint John to present Bryce and Eva with their awards.  Although Eva couldn't make it in person, she received hers earlier that day.  Eastern Canada region chair Anne McConnell-Strong and her husband made the trip from Kingston to present the awards.

Comhaltas brought a little Ireland to Touchstone Community School.  First we did a little concert, Q&A, and hands-on session with the grade 2-3 music class, then (at the insistence of the teachers) a great pile more kids were brought in to enjoy more music!

This includes a special good-bye to our friend Elwin as he heads back to The Netherlands.  Rick presented him with a certificate and membership to our branch, and Bryce brought home-made Irish soda bread!

Elwin has been playing the pipes for just four months!

Comhaltas Saint John sent a group to perform at the Miramichi Irish Festival and present bodhran and whistle workshops.

In the summer of 2009, an Irish-themed cruise visited Saint John. Comhaltas Saint John hosted a small ceili for them.
